Monaco Business Environment

For Groups with overseas activities It is important to understand that Monaco does not seek to tax overseas companies which are controlled and managed from the Principality. This makes Monaco an attractive administrative centre for Groups with entities in low or no tax jurisdictions.

There are no off the shelf Monaco companies, and Government authorisation must be obtained before commencing any business activity, and the government’s decision is wholly discretionary.

For corporate registration, information required relates to the company to be formed, its shareholders, its planned activity, its anticipated turnover, how many people it intends to employ and the premises from which it intends to carry out
the activity. A general business plan and details of the people who will run the Monaco operation will be required for substantial businesses.

An important fact to note is that all documents (business plans) and applications submitted to the government have to be mandatorily in French which is the official language in Monaco.
